02.09.2026 My Favorite Autumn Moments in the Tyrolean Mountains
My favorite season? Definitely autumn! When the forests slowly begin to change color, the most beautiful time of year starts for me – perfect for leisurely walks and hikes. The air becomes crisp and clear, the forests glow in the most beautiful shades, and the mountains reveal a very special side of themselves. That is exactly what mountain autumn in the Reutte Nature Park Region means to me – a time for hiking, biking, and exploring.
And because I love mountain autumn so much myself, I would really like to share it with you. Of course, a true mountain autumn experience also includes the right programme of events. Traditions, culture, and regional cuisine bring this special time of year to life in our region.
Mountain Autumn Highlights You Shouldn’t Miss
There is plenty going on in the Reutte Nature Park Region in autumn. I particularly enjoy the traditional events, where you can discover the region and its people from a completely different perspective.

My Personal Highlight: the Reutte Autumn Market
I love strolling through the park on this day and soaking up the very special autumn atmosphere. There is something to discover everywhere, and the music provides the perfect backdrop. And, of course, just as important to me: the wonderful aromas of regional specialities drifting through the air.
The Reutte Autumn Market will take place on 3. October 2026 from 11:00 am to 18:00. This year, there is even a small new addition: for the first time, the market will not only extend through the park, but all the way to Zeillerplatz. You can look forward to regional products, traditional crafts, and plenty of culinary delights. From cheese, meat and sausage products to herbs, teas, liqueurs and fine spirits, as well as honey, potatoes and fresh fruit, there is plenty to taste and take home. You will also find Tyrolean fashion, handmade bags, and many other lovingly crafted specialities.
Culinary Tips
As beautiful as the colourful mountains may be, good food is simply part of a perfect day. And this is where things get especially interesting, because alongside the well-known events, the region also offers several culinary highlights that are well worth remembering.
Game Weeks at Hotel Zum Mohren
If you would like to experience autumn through its flavours, keep an eye out for the Game Weeks at Hotel Zum Mohren. From 18 September to 26 October, the menu features a variety of game specialities.
And if you prefer poultry, you can already look forward to the Goose Weeks from 30 October to 16 November.
Wilderer Gourmet at Schneetalalm Mountain Hut
Things get a little more rustic at Schneetalalm. During Wilderer Gourmet on 18 and 19 September, mountain autumn becomes a culinary experience right in the heart of the mountains.
And if you are in the mood for something special, Schneetalalm also hosts AlmTapas Gourmet on 25 and 26 September. Small delicacies, an alpine atmosphere, and plenty of indulgence – definitely one for your personal autumn bucket list.
"Törggelen" at El Vino
If I had to choose one of my favourite culinary tips, however, it would be "Törggelen" at El Vino in October.
For me, evenings like these are exactly what mountain autumn is all about: you spend the day outdoors, the temperatures start to drop in the evening, and then you sit down together somewhere cosy and round off the day with good food and a glass of wine.
