Coolcation in Tyrol: Tips for Your Refreshing Summer Getaway
When the warm summer evenings bathe the Reutte Nature Park Region in a special light, the traditional open-air brass band concerts once again fill the village squares with music. These musical summer evenings have a long history: Tyrolean open-air concerts date back to the 19th century, when brass bands were established in many villages. These bands became a central part of community life, performing at church festivals, processions, celebrations, and special occasions. During the summer months, they began giving regular performances in village squares and in front of inns – the origin of today's open-air concerts.
To this day, these concerts are much more than musical entertainment – they are a living tradition and a popular gathering place for both locals and visitors. Whether featuring traditional marches, lively polkas, or modern brass band arrangements, they offer a varied program for all ages. In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, village squares become places where music, community, and Tyrolean traditions come together.
Throughout the summer, our local brass bands provide unforgettable concert evenings:
Reutte Municipal Brass Band
Weißenbach am Lech Municipal Brass Band
Höfen Municipal Brass Band
Lechaschau Concert Band
Pinswang Brass Band
Ehenbichl Brass Band
Musau Brass Band
Pflach Brass Band
Vils Town Brass Band
A special highlight is the Tyrolean Evening hosted by the Höfen Municipal Brass Band together with the Höfen Traditional Costume Association. In addition to musical performances, visitors can experience authentic Tyrolean traditions, including folk dances, traditional costumes, and regional customs – an evening that showcases the cultural diversity of our region in an impressive way.
The open-air concerts offer a wonderful opportunity to discover the traditional side of the Reutte Nature Park Region. When the sounds of flutes blend with the warm tones of trumpets and are carried by the rhythm of the percussion section, they create the distinctive sound that gives village squares their special atmosphere during the summer months.
While locals enjoy convivial evenings with family and friends, visitors can experience Tyrolean musical culture up close. In this way, the open-air concerts bring generations together, keep traditions alive, and showcase the great passion of our musicians.
We warmly invite you to be part of these special summer evenings. Enjoy the unique atmosphere, be inspired by the music, and experience the diversity of our brass bands throughout the Reutte Nature Park Region.
