The Dürrenberg Alm sits high above the Reutte valley basin at 1,438 m – visible from the valley and a classic winter destination. The hike starts at the idyllic Lake Urisee, which sets a wintry mood right from the beginning.
Whether you choose a sporty ascent or a leisurely stop at the hut, the views over the valley basin make every effort worthwhile.

Important note: This tour is recommended as a snowshoe hike. Without snowshoes, the ascent in winter can be very challenging and difficult. There are no signposts marking it as a winter trail, so in winter the ski route via the Rotbachwiese must be used. Since the route crosses open terrain and is not regularly maintained, snow conditions and current avalanche reports should be carefully checked before setting out.
The hike to Vilser Alm is the most relaxed of the sporty winter hikes. Following a forest road without steep sections, it leads to the hut at 1,226 m, nestled among picturesque mountain scenery.
At the hut, you’ll find farm-fresh products such as eggs, homemade bacon and cheese – perfect for tasting or taking home.
