With his extraordinary life story and sporting achievements, Felix Brunner inspires people around the world. Born in 1989, Felix Brunner was a passionate mountaineer, alpinist and mountain rescuer before a serious accident in the Tannheim Valley changed his life in 2009. On his way back from an ice-climbing tour, he fell 30 metres into a gorge. The accident resulted in life-threatening injuries and a year-long hospital stay, including eight months in an induced  coma and more than 60 operations. Three times, doctors gave up hope and prepared his parents for their son’s death. But Felix never gave up. Despite multiple physical disabilities, he fought his way back to an active and sporting life in a wheelchair. With tremendous determination, Felix Brunner became the first wheelchair user to cross the Alps by handbike, travelling from Füssen to Riva – 480 km with 12.000 metres of elevation gain. His motto: “The bike will give up before I do!”

Today, he is a sought-after keynote and motivational speaker for companies, conferences, specialist events, schools and online events. Felix Brunner’s sporting achievements and talks are designed to inspire and motivate people of all generations in a wide range of areas of life.

Two Themes, One Shared Day

“Sport & Energy” brings together two themes that represent a vibrant and forward-looking region. The town centre will be car-free, with a tourist road train running along the car-free Lindenstraße between the town centre and the power station. This allows visitors to reach the various activity stations on foot, by bicycle or conveniently by road train. Free parking is available at the Linz-Textil site for those arriving by car. “Sport & Energy” invites you to experience Reutte actively, discover something new and enjoy a varied afternoon together.

Highlight | Near the Linz-Textil site and the River Lech Opening of the Reutte Power Station

from 14:30:

  • Guided tour of the power station
  • Interactive energy trail for children
  • Live music by the Schmoggis from Ehenbichl
  • Food & refreshments

Over the past two years, one of the region’s most significant energy projects has been implemented on the River Lech, near the Linz-Textil site. Two existing power stations have been combined into a powerful integrated system. At the same time, the surrounding area has undergone a major transformation: the former open water channel was removed and replaced by a new green space covering around six football pitches. Reutte has therefore gained not only a modernised facility for regional electricity generation, but also a new area for local recreation. During guided tours of the power station, visitors can take a look behind the scenes and learn more about the new facility. Children can explore an interactive energy trail, where they can discover how the region’s energy supply works and explore the newly created natural surroundings along the former channel in a fun and engaging way. Live music by the BMK Reutte (Brass Band), as well as food and drinks, will also be available.

  • The opening of the Reutte power plant will take place in all weather conditions, while the sports programme in Reutte town centre will only take place in good weather.
  • Reach the power station easily on foot, by bicycle or by road train.
  • Free parking is available at the Linz-Textil site.
