31.03.2025 The Planet Trail “Reutte Under the Stars”
New Astronomy-Themed Trail
For its current special exhibition, the museum "Museum im Grünen Haus" has chosen the theme “Sun, Moon and Stars – Reutte’s Place in Astronomy.”
To complement the exhibition, a circular planet trail was created, originally intended to exist only for the duration of the show. However, the museum team was able to inspire both the municipality of Reutte and the Reutte Nature Park Region to support the project. Thanks to their valuable assistance, the Planet Trail “Reutte under the Stars” has now been permanently installed. Visitors can now enjoy a relaxed walk through the universe along the trail and discover the wonders of our solar system.
The official opening of the new themed trail took place on 31 August.
The circular trail begins and ends at the mseum "Museum im Grünen Haus". Along the approximately 2.3 km route, eleven information panels present engaging and easy-to-understand insights into the history of astronomy, the sun and the planets, as well as stars, important personalities, and technological developments.
Facts and information are presented in a clear and easy-to-understand way. Visitors who would like to explore the topic in more depth can access additional content via QR codes. The information is currently available in German and English, with further languages in preparation.
The information panels feature carefully designed, true-to-scale models of planets and stars, helping to illustrate the vast distances of space in a tangible way. The first panel, dedicated to the sun and located in front of the musem "Museum im Grünen Haus", includes a brochure box with flyers about the Planet Trail available for visitors to take. The sun model is powered by solar energy and even illuminates at night.
Ground markings guide visitors along the trail, which is also suitable for strollers. For young space explorers, an exciting puzzle game is available at the museum "Museum im Grünen Haus" and at the tourist office – along with a small reward.
The Planet Trail will continue to be expanded in the coming years. Future additions will include information about personalities from Reutte who were connected to astronomy, as well as current links between Reutte, space exploration, and aerospace.
From May to October, public guided tours along the Planet Trail take place every second Tuesday of the month. These tours are free of charge for guests with the Aktiv Card of the Reutte Nature Park Region. The meeting point is in front of the museum "Museum im Grünen Haus", Untermarkt 25. Individual guided tours can also be arranged on request.
