The sun is shining in the sky and sunbeams warm your skin. In the morning the air is already heating up. It does not matter if you are going to spend the day on the mountains or in the valley, you know that on days like these, only a plunge into water will really cool you off. It really is great that you can choose from so many varied swimming locations in the Nature Park Region of Reutte. No matter whether you choose one of the crystal-clear lakes – the water has the quality of drinking water – or the outdoor swimming pool in Weissenbach or the Ehrenberg Alpine Spa – bathing fun is guaranteed!
The Plansee lake, the second biggest lake in the Tyrol, nestles like a fjord between the surrounding mountains. The water quality is unique and you can look down into the lake’s unclouded crystal-clear depths. Swimmers, surfers and sailors frequent the waters and bring colour as a contrast to the deep blue of the water.
The particularity of the extremely popular Urisee lake is that it has neither a tributary nor an outflow. As a result, the depth of the lake varies considerably. The 5 jetties, constructed a few years ago, sometimes offer a curious picture, as the ladders leading into the water can sometimes be seen as high and dry. During another year the level of the water is so high that the jetties are almost covered. No matter – the Urisee lake provides a swimming experience which cannot be improved upon. The kiosk at the bathing facility offers snacks for every taste. Tickets cost 2,00 EUR for the whole day.
The Frauensee lake is the most romantic of the lakes in the Nature Park Region of Reutte. It lies in a picturesque manner in a basin surrounded by mountains. Waterlilies cover part of its surface. You can get to the other side of the lake on a raft, pulling yourself along on a rope – a hit with the children! The cosy ‘Frauenseestube’ restaurant invites you to stop by – an ice cream or a wine spritzer are just part of the summer bathing experience!
The lake lying at the highest altitude of the region is the Alatsee lake, which attracts a great number of swimmers. Swimming in a mountain lake, the mountains reflected in its waters on a fine day, really is something special.
The ‘Lechausee‘ lake, a flooded gravel pit near Weissenbach, is relatively cool and particularly suited to refreshing yourself on hot summer days. Many families come here to swim and enjoy the sun.
If you would like to visit a swimming pool as a change from swimming in the lakes, the heated outdoor pool in Weissenbach is a good choice. Here you will find a pool for swimmers and non-swimmers, a generously laid out sunbathing lawn, and a water slide as well as a separate paddling pool for babies and toddlers. The pool is suitable for the disabled. Should you wish to really spoil yourself, then the Ehrenberg Alpine Spa is the answer. Not only the swimming areas, but also the children’s area and the speed tyre slide are really worth a visit. The sauna facilities in particular with their generously appointed relaxation tracts promise you relaxation and regeneration.
