Discover along the moderate long-distance hiking trail Lechweg the diverse natural landscape of one of the last wild rivers in Europe. The long-distance trail runs for around 125 kilometers through five vacation regions and the two countries of Austria and Germany, past Europe's largest ibex colony and mysterious waterfalls, over swinging suspension bridges, through river meadows and forests to royal castles. The trail is always framed by the backdrop of the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps.

The Lech Trail starts at the Formarinsee lake in Lech am Arlberg, at the point where the Lech spring originates. From there, the trail continues via Warth into the Lech Valley. Watch how the small spring becomes a mountain stream and eventually a wider river, which, unlike most rivers in the Alpine region, has remained natural. A special place to take in the unique river landscape is certainly the Beichlstein near Stanzach in the Lech Valley. From there you have a fantastic view of the so-called Lechzopf.

The route continues to the Reutte Nature Park region, where several highlights await you along the Lech Trail: the idyllic Riedener See lake, for example, or the fantastically situated Costarieskapelle chapel; the Lechauen meadows near Pflach with the bird-watching tower are also absolutely worth seeing. Afterwards, the Lechweg continues along the Fürstenweg and the Alpsee with views of the Bavarian royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau to Füssen in the Allgäu. The hiker can determine his own stages depending on his condition: from six to eight sections or even more, everything is possible.
