If you want to go hiking while bringing your young child along, a stroller-friendly hiking trail is the perfect choice. The Naturparkregion Reutte offers a wide variety of trails specifically designed for strollers, allowing you to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery without worrying about how to get around with your child. This means you can set off on your hike relaxed and carefree, even with a toddler in tow, and experience nature together.

Hike to Kreckelmoosersee A highlight for young and old

One example of a stroller-friendly hiking trail is Kreckelmoosersee. The lake is approximately 200 metres long and 100 metres wide and is surrounded by a picturesque forest. On sunny days, the surrounding mountains are reflected in the crystal-clear water, creating an unforgettable setting. Wooden piers extend into the lake, offering perfect spots to rest or enjoy a picnic. Children can feed the fish here and then head over to the nearby Sportstüberl playground to enjoy the swings. Large grass carp glide calmly through the water, while the smaller carp and trout put on an impressive show during feeding time.

Accessible hiking trail Discover the breathtaking Bergwelt Hahnenkamm and experience the warm, traditional hospitality of the Höfener Alm and Lechaschauer Alm.

Another great example is the barefoot hiking trail leading to the Höfener Alm, which we tried out last autumn on the Hahnenkamm. This trail is a fantastic experience for children in particular, as it features 18 different stations where they can balance, wade through water, or walk across pine cones.

Even at an altitude of over 1,700 metres, there has been a barrier-free hiking trail since June 2022 – the Alpenrosenweg. This trail runs between the Höfener Alm and the Lechaschauer Alm. Designed to be fully accessible, it offers a comfortable hiking experience for wheelchair users as well as families with strollers.

Once we arrived at the Höfener Alm, we enjoyed spending time at the small children’s playground and watching the cows. While my child took a nap, we adults were able to relax and enjoy delicious cheese spaetzle and stock up on homemade alpine cheese. All in all, it was a wonderful day on the Hahnenkamm, and we’ll definitely be back to tackle the barefoot trail again.

Falling in Love with the Plansee: Discover the breathtaking mountain lake in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps

Another hiking trail I can highly recommend is the circular trail around the Plansee. Although parts of the route are a little steeper, it is still suitable for strollers thanks to its wide paths and the absence of any difficult sections. You can easily push a stroller here while enjoying the breathtaking views.

In addition, the panoramic high-level trail along the fjord-like Plansee offers a truly wonderful hiking experience. The hike starts at the Parkplatz Seespitze and leads along the mountainside to the eastern shore of the lake. Along the way, several beautiful rest spots invite you to take a break and soak in the stunning scenery. A particular highlight is the Hollywood swing, which is, of course, a big hit with children.

Urisee – A Natural Gem

Urisee is a beautiful place for hiking and relaxing. The circular trail around the lake is about 2.5 kilometres long and takes you all the way around the water. The path is wide and flat, making it easy to bring a stroller along. Along the way, there are plenty of benches where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery.

The newly renovated lakeside buffet invites visitors to enjoy delicious food and refreshing drinks. Although you’ll meet both locals and curious visitors here, the area remains very peaceful and calm. When the water level is low, you can walk almost the entire way along the shoreline. When I’m out and about with my little ones, I don’t have to worry at all about whether the path is stroller-friendly – it simply is.

If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration, feel free to visit our website. There you’ll find an interactive map featuring numerous stroller-friendly hiking trails. To give you a better idea of how the map works, you can see the hike to Frauensee shown here as an example.

Overall, the Naturparkregion Reutte offers a wide range of stroller-friendly hiking trails. I love spending time outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and breathtaking scenery while bringing my young child along in a stroller. It’s a wonderful way to spend quality time as a family without having to compromise on comfort or safety.
