Winter Hiking and Mountain Hut Delights: Experience Tyrol’s Winter Magic
Winter has arrived in all its splendor. Our Naturparkregion is currently presenting itself as a true winter fairytale landscape. The abundant snowfall of the past few days has beautifully transformed the surroundings, creating enchanting shapes and picturesque scenes. The world feels quiet, every sound is softened, and it almost seems as if time stands still as you walk through the sparkling white wonder.
The weather hardly matters – whether under bright sunshine or during heavy snowfall, nature reveals its full beauty, offering impressions of untouched scenery that are rarely seen in such purity.
Our first walk takes us along Lake Hüttenmühlsee near Pflach under a bright blue sky and radiant sunshine. We begin by crossing the bridge, whose railings are thickly covered with snow. The view upstream and downstream along the Archbach is picturesque, and a well-trodden path leads us to the other side.
The trail leading left toward the lake is narrow and lined with snowbanks on either side. Light and shadow alternate along the path, while the trees – and every single branch – are heavily covered in snow.
Along the trail, there are repeatedly beautiful views of the gently flowing Archbach and the snow-covered pines and shrubs that line the path.
Cheerful walkers, many with dogs on a leash, politely make way for one another or stop for a friendly chat at the wider sections of the path where there is enough space. The sun feels pleasantly warm, and the view of the partially frozen lake is beautiful. A few young coots – hatched last summer – are swimming in the ice-free areas, repeatedly diving in search of food.
The crisp air and the gentle movement are refreshing for both body and mind. Upon reaching the dam, we could cross the small bridge and return along the road. Instead, we decide to take the same path back, as the snow-covered landscape, the low-hanging branches, and the sparkling snow are simply too tempting to leave behind.
